2nd Alarm on Greenwich Street
Fri. Jul 17th 2020

1731 Hours / 136 Greenwich Street / Box 704 / B Platoon

Companies were dispatched to the area of Pear Street and Greenwich Street for reports of smoke and flames from a vacant structure. Dispatch advised C4 they had multiple calls reporting the same. E7 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing second floor rear of what appeared to be a vacant structure. C4 arrived on scene, established command, and reported a 3 story end of row with fire showing from the rear. Due to the interior access points being boarded up, E7 flowed water onto the fire from the exterior until another apparatus arrived and was able to force entry. A hand line was then taken interior and the rest of the fire was extinguished on the second floor. Fire had extended into the 3rd floor and roofline so a second hand line was stretched to the 3rd floor. Neighbors reported a squatter was possibly occupying the structure but primary and secondary searches were negative. Due to extensive overhaul operations and a high heat index C4 requested the 2nd alarm for more man power. The fire was placed under control with overhaul at 1813. OFM was called to investigate.
