Mountain Biker Rescued After Accident
Sat. Aug 15th 2020
1456 hours / Mount Penn Mountain, Ferndale Bike Trail / A platoon
Companies dispatched for an injured biker on Mount Penn. Crews arrived on Skyline Drive near Drenkel Field and met with an individual who could lead them to the injured person. The biker was reported to have suffered a leg injury that would require extrication over a distance. Brush 1 was requested to the scene at 1505 for transport. Rescuers worked for 30 minutes to package and mover the biker back to the road using the "TURK" extrication device. EMS transported to Tower Health Trauma Center.

**Mt. Penn has an extensive mountain bike trail network that is very popular with bikers throughout the region.  This biker wisely chose to ride with friends who were able to render immediate assistance.  Additionally, by wearing an appropriate helmet, he prevented a much more serious injury.  Bike safe!
