Shooting, Kitchen Fire, Vehicle Fire, and Police Stand-By Simultaneously

14:40 hrs / Laurel Street & Minor Street / C Platoon

14:51 hrs / 1135 Mulberry Street / Box 09-02

The box was transmitted for smoke coming from a house in the area of 1113 Mulberry Street.  Engine 9 and Ladder 3 arrived in the block to find a kitchen fire at 1135 Mulberry Street.  Car 4 (J. Stoudt) arrived, assumed command, and declared a working fire.  A stovetop fire extended to the cabinetry and ceiling area.  A 1-3/4" hand line was stretched from Engine 9.  The fire was extinguished and the area overhauled with the fire placed under control at 15:06 hrs.  All searches proved negative and no injuries were reported.

15:03 hrs / N. 11th & Marion Sts.

Engine 3 was hailed by civilians reporting a vehicle on fire at the location noted.  Car 9 (Glore), Engine 3, and Tower 1 were assigned from the box.  Car 9 arrived with fire involving the engine compartment of a United States Postal Service delivery van.  As Engine 3 maneuvered out of the fire scene on Mulberry Street, the engine crewman utilized a dry chemical fire extinguisher from Car 9 to initially knock-down the flames.  Upon the arrival of Engine 3, a 1-3/4" hand line was stretched to extinguish the fire.  Tower 1 assisted with overhaul.  While the vehicle was heavily damaged, there was no fire damage to the mail in the cargo area.  USPS officials were on scene as well. 

15:02 hrs / 800 Block of Muhlenberg Street

Car 1 (W. Stoudt), Engine 5, and Medic 3 were requested to stand-by in the area noted for a possible shooting.  RPD cleared the area with no victim found.
