Kitchen Fire in the Northeast - One Civilian Removed

18:44 hrs / 1039 Oley Street / Box 0903 / C Platoon
The box was transmitted for a report of smoke and flames in the home with one occupant trapped on the 2nd floor. Car 5 (Glore) arrived at a 2 1/2-story end-of-the-row dwelling with smoke showing and declared a working fire. Engine 1 arrived first-due and stretched a 1 3/4" handline via the front door. With continued reports of an occupant trapped on the 2nd floor, firefighters immediately began a search of the home. Engine 3's crewman located an adult male in the 2nd floor hallway who was unable to exit the home due to the smoke condition. He was assisted from the home under his own power via the interior stairwell and was uninjured. All other searches proved negative.
A stovetop fire in the first floor kitchen had extended to the cabinetry above. The fire was quickly knocked-down and the area overhauled. Car 5 placed the fire under control at 18:55 hrs. Damage was confined to the area of origin.

0517hours/ Behind 647 N Front Street / Box 702 / C platoonE7 was originally dispatched for a smoke condition behind 114 Oley Street. Additional callers stated a garage was on fire in the rear, and the box assignment was upgraded.
22:05 Hours/ 334 S 17th St/ Box 601/ B Platoon Companies were dispatched to the above address for reports of fire from the roof of a house. Engine 1 arrived on scene reporting fire showing from the 3rd floor roof area of a 3 story end of the row dwelling.
07:08 Hours/ 304 W Douglass St/ Box 704/ C Platoon Companies were dispatched to the above address for a garage fire that was reported to be out. Companies arrived to find a light smoke condition in a detached garage.
19:38 Hours/ 658 N 12th St/ Box 903/ C Platoon Companies were dispatched to the above address for reports of smoke coming from the 3rd floor window of a house. Ladder 3 and Engine 9 arrived to find nothing showing.
17:40 Hours/ 422 EB After Lancaster Ave On-ramp/ B/C Platoon Engine 5 Was dispatched to assist Cumru Township with a Vehicle fire on Route 422 Eastbound just prior to I-176. Multiple callers reported a fully involved camper.
14:13 Hours/ 331 Spring Garden St/ Box 602/ A Platoon Companies were sent to the above address for a structure fire after multiple calls were received reporting a residence on fire. Car 7 arrived to find smoke showing and heavy fire in the rear of a 2 1/2 story middle of the row dwelling.
00:27 hours/ 2535 River Rd/ Box 0701/ B Platoon In the early morning hours of June 12th, the box was transmitted for the report of a house on fire with reports of entrapment in the Riverdale section of the city.
2055 hours/1300 block of Kenny street/ B platoonIn the late evening hours of June 10th, Engine 1, Tower 1, and Car 9 were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Kenny street. Tower 1 arrived on scene to find one vehicle on fire underneath its hood.
15:28 Hours/Skyline Dr IAO Drenkel Field/ A Platoon Companies were sent to Mount Penn for a reported brush fire. Car 7 confirmed there was smoke showing from the Penn St Bridge. Engine 1 and Car 2 arrived to find a 100x50 area of woods burning a short distance from the bike trail.
13:18 Hours/ 415 Woodside Ave/Wyomissing Borough/ D Platoon At 13:18 hours, Engine 3 was dispatched to assist Wyomissing Fire Department on a reported structure fire. Companies arrived to find a working kitchen fire with possible extension to the second floor.
14:33 Hours/ Mount Penn Between Union St & Skyline Dr/ B Platoon As the BCCC received several phone calls reporting fire on the mountain they dispatched both city and county units to the area of Union St.
1554 Hours/ 920 Laverna Dr/ C PlatoonAt 1554 hours, Engine 5 and Ladder 1 were sent to the Alvernia University Campus for the report of a vehicle on fire. Engine 5 could see smoke rising above the neighbourhood from Lancaster Ave.
1554 Hours/ 1300 Cotton St/ Box 0602/ A PlatoonIn the late afternoon hours, on Saturday May 27th, the box was transmitted for the report of a dryer on fire inside a laundromat on the corner of S. 13th and Cotton Streets.
10:23/ 220 N. 11th St./ Box 0104/ C Platoon The Box was transmitted by BCCC for the report of a house on fire on N. 11th St. While companies were enroute, Radio reported that they were receiving multiple calls, and had smoke and fire showing from the courthouse cameras.
15:36 Hours/ 1329 N 9th St/ Box 902/ A Platoon The box assignment was sent to 1321 N 9th St for a reported house on fire. Engine 9 arrived on scene within a minute to report heavy smoke showing from the rear.
15:22 Hours/ New Holland Rd & Lancaster Ave/ Box 402/ B Platoon Companies were dispatched to the above intersection for a possible shed fire. As companies went en route several other 911 calls were received reporting heavy smoke and flames in the area.
03:16 Hours/ 800 Block of Chestnut St/ A Platoon Companies were dispatched to the intersection of S 8th St and Chestnut St for a vehicle fire. Engine 1 arrived to find a well off car fire. Crews stretched the bumper line and quickly knocked down the fire.
12:56 Hours/ 1035 Church St/ Box 703/ D Platoon Companies were sent to the above address for reports of smoke coming from a house. Car 1 arrived to find smoke showing from the eaves in the rear of a 2 1/2 story dwelling.
17:24 Hours/ 1013A N 11th St/ Box 902/ B & D Platoons Right in the middle of shift change companies were dispatched to Northeast Reading for a house fire reported to be a fire in the basement. Multiple calls were received as civilians reported several houses on fire.
18:33 Hours/ 1103 Marion St/ Box 902/ B Platoon Companies were sent to the above address for reports of smoke coming from the 2nd floor of a residence. As the apparatus from the 9th & Marion Firehouse hit the street they confirmed smoke showing from station.
