The Reading Fire Department EMS division reported a record breaking 1,444 emergency calls for the month of May. The city units unable to answer 193 calls for service*. As of May 31st, the service has responded to 6,648 ambulance calls, missing an additional 753 calls for service*.

Chief Jeff Squibb has retired after 35 years of service to the City of Reading. The chief began his career in May of 1977, after serving as a volunteer firefighter with the Oakbrook Fire Company for several years.
