INVITATION TO BID The City of Reading will receive sealed proposals in the Purchasing Office, 815 Washington Street, Room 2-45, Reading, Pennsylvania, until 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 1, 2009 for the construction of a new fire station for the Department of Fire & Rescue Services, City of Reading, Pennsylvania.
Specifications and Proposal Forms for the above work can be obtained at the Office of the Purchasing Coordinator, Rm. 2-45 City Hall, Reading, Pennsylvania, starting Tuesday, August 11, 2009. A two hundred dollar ($200.00) fee is required for each set of paper specifications and a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) fee is required for each set of specifications on disk.
A mandatory pre-bid conference/site visit will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at 8:30 A.M. at the Reading-Berks Fire Training Center, 895 Morgantown Rd., Reading, Pennsylvania. All prospective bidders must attend.
Each proposal shall be accompanied by bid surety in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the proposal. A certified check or bid bond will be accepted.
Attention is called to the fact that prevailing minimum wage rate as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry must be paid by the contractor and that employees shall not be discriminated against because of race, color, age religion, sex or national origin.
The City of Reading reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, and to accept or reject any part of a bid that may not be in the public interest.
