Former Member Receives FDNY Promotion

Firefighter Scott Lyons was recently promoted to Lieutenant for the FDNY. Lyons will be assigned to a battalion and "fill-in" at several different Engine & Ladder companies to be evaluated before taking a permanent assignment. Lyons previous assignment was a chauffeur at Tower 79 on Staten-Island.
Scott was a previously a firefighter on C platoon as a jumper. He left the department in the late 90's to take a job with FDNY.

Reading Firefighters began touring the new Reading Eagle press building located behind the Engine 3 & Ladder 1's quarters. Fire Marshal Todd Iager took both training groups through the building explaining the operations of the new $18 million 4 story printing press.

Firefighter Merlin Planer is operating our "Hazard House" fire prevention program. The small scale house is constructed with several working fire hazards for school age children to identify to teach them about fire safety.

Multiple public safety departments were on hand for a mock bus disaster drill sponsored by the BCIU. The goal of the drill was to show their drivers what would happen if a bus would be involved in an accident with students on board.
