Fire safety education at 13th & Union School

Firefighters from Engine 9 and Ladder 3 participated in a program with 3rd grade students at the 13th & Union Elementary School today. The annual program has teachers educating children on fire and fire safety. The children were given a presentation from Lieutenant Robert Stichter from the Fire Marshal's Office. After the presentation, the students were given tours of the apparatus and given the opportunity to ask the firefighters questions about their job.

The Reading Firefighters gave their all during the 11th annual Battle of the Badges Hockey Game, but it was the police department who was on fire! The Reading Cops took the victory by a score of 6-2, with Officer Pete Karpovich scoring 5 of the police goals (yeah he's good).
